Vinted Shoppers Express Frustration About Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
