Toronto Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Against the Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Houston Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.
The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their initial World Series since 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.
Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh frame, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a four games to three win in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the upcoming World Series.
"It's incredible for this squad, our city, Canada," commented Springer, a star of the Astros team that won the 2017 title. "This is such an unbelievable moment."
Springer has now connected for 23 total post-season home runs, making him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine anyone else in the world that I'd prefer in that situation except for Springer with his October magic," noted Schneider.
Seattle's team, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the one club never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but praised their work in the campaign.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the wrong side of the series," he remarked.
Toronto's team claimed the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
