The British player reached the third round in three out of four Grand Slam events during the season.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her remaining competitions in 2025 because of a health issue she has been battling for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to recover prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations will involve trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the final set against Zhu because of a lower back issue that has troubled her at times this year.

These outcomes signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.

Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.

Raducanu won twenty-eight matches during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

As Britain's top player advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed en route prior to a loss in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.

The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

She mentioned that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round then falling to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
