Letitia James Charged With Criminal Financial Fraud Indictment
A national judicial panel has charged the New York attorney general for financial misconduct on Thursday, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Lindsey Halligan directly submitted the case before the judicial panel this Thursday, as reported.
Federal prosecutors do not typically appear before a grand jury.
Halligan was appointed as US attorney recently after Donald Trump grew impatient with the pace of inquiries against his rivals.
The move is the president’s latest effort to utilize the DOJ to punish political rivals.
It follows a fortnight following Halligan obtained indictments targeting the former FBI director.
Experienced attorneys wrote a document for that matter outlining why charges were not warranted.
Comey pleaded not guilty this past Wednesday.
