It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to create her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in training, it was a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing completely," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that Healy was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was out Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we are confident we can succeed."

Those words will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.
